Today, the fantastic 8 will feature Garbine Muguruza who qualified today after winning her R16 match in Beijing against Mirjana Lucic -Baroni and Petra Kvitova who has qualified already according to the Live Ranking but nothing is official so lets say it is 99%. Profile:As of today, Garbi has qualified for the WTA Finals in Singapore after beating Mirjana Lucic Baroni to reach the QF in the China Open, becoming the 4th qualifier (3rd if we consider Serena's withdrawal). It was probably the best birthday present she has ever took,as she will be one of the fantastic eight for first time in her career in singles(she did qualify last year in doubles). This year she literally forced us to see how talented and hard-working she is. Reaching the Quarterfinals in the French Open as well as the Wimbledon Final is just the tip of the iceberg for the Spanish youngster, who has been working extremely hard for the last 2 or 3 years. The truth is that she is not unbeatable in any aspect of the game. For instance,she doesn't have neither Pliskova's impressive serve nor Sharapova's quality returns. However,she is stable and at the same time pretty mature, if we consider her young age. In case she is able to use these weapons efficiently and play smart tennis, Garbine will manage not not just to live up to the expectations but also to surpass them.
4.Petra Kvitova:Nickname:The ice woman
Profile:The talented Czech is with the one foot in the WTA Finals. She has in fact qualified according to the Live Ranking,but nothing is official yet. Having won 2 Wimbledon titles, all Petra lacks is stability throughout the year. This season, her best result regarding Grand Slams was in the US Open, where she lost to Pennetta in the Quarter-Finals. She also beat Serena in Madrid semis. Most of the times, her basic characteristic is the so-called <<poker face>>, an extremely useful tool for brain games. In case she can use this weapon efficiently, she will definitely achieve big things in Asia.
